3/4: And we’re off!

Beloved readers…my apologies for the delay in updating you on the tour so far. It’s been quite the whirlwind since leaving New York on Monday. An 8 hour plane ride, 2 hour car ride, 2 hour car ferry ride, 4 hour drive and eventually I found myself in Amsterdam where I proceeded to pass out like this guy

Okay, so what can I say. I can’t quite believe I’m on tour. It’s been amazing so far. Last night’s show in Amsterdam was PACKED and the crowd were unbelievable but we’ll get onto that in a minute. Firstly I want to show you how I got to Europe:

These are my wheels…a slightly smaller version of Rocky the Rav4…I’ve named him Percy the Peugeot

After a speedy drive to Dover to make sure I caught my ferry on time it was ‘Goodbye’ to England (They don’t call them the White Cliffs Of Dover for nothing)

….and Bonjour France!

4 hours and 3 countries later (France, Belgium and The Netherlands) we find ourselves in the beautiful city of Amsterdam…

And head to the awesome awesome Melweg…which apparently floats on the canal…a first for me…

48 hours after leaving New York I finally took the stage…I have to say, the crowd was unbelievable and so welcoming, my dutch went down a treat (I taught myself a few phrases, and pronounced them horribly)

After a shortened sleep last night I drove to Hamburg this morning and got my first taste of the German highway madness which basically allows you in certain places to drive at any speed…that’s right…any speed. I took full liberty of this freedom :)

Now, Hamburg is an exciting place for me to be because it was here that the Beatles spent a long time honing their craft before becoming superstars. So hopefully by following in their geographical footsteps I can emulate their success :)
